Break
As I was walking
To class, I had to
Take a short cut,
Across the once green field
That is now covered in snow.
As the sun’s rays beat down
Upon the earth
The visible layers started to melt,
But only slightly
Overnight
When the sun’s absence is felt
The melt refreezes
Forming a crème brulee
Crust of ice above the snow
As I take my first step
I feel as though I will be able
To walk above the ground
And walk on water, frozen
And the weight of my skepticism
Breaks through.
